This Belt Drives the Head Gears
I have this belt that I have loved and owned for a very long time. Years. Since high school, I believe. A beautiful, industrial chain finished with purple and pink ribbons, it was more rockstar than I could ever figure out how to work into my outfits. But since the love continued, it was never parted with. This past weekend, after years of the gears in my head turning, I gave the belt new life.
Simply by trimming the ribbon down (and melting the ends to prevent frays) I have a new statement necklace! I wore it out already for sushi night with one of my girls, with success! My friend liked it (and her opinion on things like this ALWAYS matters to me) and so did the waitress! What do you think?

oh! what a great idea! I love the colors!!!
Brilliant! Isn't it funny how we hang on to these things that we don't wear or that never quite worked with our own sense of style? The difference with you is that you figured out how to repurpose it and make it work. I love it! xoxo Gigi
SO CUTE! I LOVE THE RIBBON, ITS THE PERFECT TOUCH, FUNNY THINGS IS YOU COULD PROBABLY FIND THIS AT AN ACCESSORY STORE BUT FOR LIKE $20! SO CUTE:)
nifty idea! I think it makes a great necklace, its like an edgier take on those pearl and ribbon necklaces at J Crew.
I think...that I hate you!!
Love ya!!
I think I wish you had more so you could sell them!
Great re-design! Very cute necklace :)

I also stopped by to tell you that you are the winner to the giveaway from Amy and Ann! I couldnt find your contact info. Can you please email me your address so I can send it to them? Thanks! rachel@lovelyclusters.com
Oh, that's brilliant! It looks lovely as a necklace:)
I like to wear belts, headbands, etc as necklaces too, gives it more value for the money!
you look really skinny in these pics ;)
Congratulations for putting life back into your old belt! You can even change the color of the ribbon (ex. zebra print) for a new look. Love it!
I think it's cute!! It reminds me of a pearl belt I have stashed away. I never wore it because shortly after I bought it, I found out that I was pregnant and well, it's not really a cute baby bump for a while. Nobody likes the "is she fat or pregnant?" stage.
